God's plan was never only your survival. It was multiplication.

The last message in the ROOTED series, preached to a room where some of the men were days away from leaving and going home. Seven things to carry out of the door with you.

Along the way: why stubbornness makes you unteachable, why pride kept us from listening to the people who loved us most, the seed in your heart that nobody else can water, and an honest account of one relapse that happened and one that did not.

The message

  1. Hear and keep hearing

    Proverbs 9:9

The worst thing about being stubborn is that you stop being teachable.

  2. Accept God's work in you

    Romans 12:2

Pride is why we couldn't hear the people who loved us most.

  3. Remain faithful through the seasons

    Galatians 6:9 · Ecclesiastes 3:1

You don't start at the gym with the heaviest weight.

  4. Value progress over perfection

Each day sober is progress. You relapse, you start counting again.

  5. Encourage others along the way

    2 Corinthians 1:4

The primary way God blesses people is through people.

  6. Share what God has given you

    2 Timothy 2:2

Whatever God is doing in your life is not for your benefit alone.

  7. Trust God for the increase

You cannot force a seed to sprout without killing it.
